The Department of Information and Communications of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that as of 03:00 on September 17, 2022, the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as tense.

In the period from 00:10 to 00:40 at the Guliston-Avtodorozhny checkpoint (RT), a meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman — Director of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, Major General U. Sharsheev and Commander of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel General R. Rahmonali.

The meeting was also attended by the heads of the territorial divisions of the State Committee for National Security, border agencies, and law enforcement agencies in the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and the Sughd region of Tajikistan. As a result of the meeting, the following agreements were reached:

During the night until 09:00 on September 17, 2022, the heads of the regional departments of the border agencies must personally organize work to prevent provocations and shootings on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in the Batken region;

In order to coordinate actions, the joint operational headquarters, which includes the heads of the territorial divisions of the State Committee for National Security, border agencies, and law enforcement agencies in the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and the Sughd region of Tajikistan, will continue its work at the Guliston-avtodorozhny checkpoint.
